The State Border Service (SENAFRONT) arrested on Monday in Puerto Lara, Darien, the Spaniard Javier Martin, who has been identified as the person who was last seen with the American Don North and the Frenchman Jean Pierre Bouhard, the first missing since January and the second killed this month. SENAFRONT sources explained that Martin was captured at about 7:00 pm as he was going by car towards a farm in the area,rift gold from a hotel in nearby Santa Fe. Shortly before he had been recognized by local people on the television evening news broadcast. Martin carried a .38 revolver with 99 bullets, a 16-gauge shotgun which had 80 shells, and a 40 mm Glock pistol with two boxes of ammunition. What's more he was also carrying a laptop computer, pepper spray, a knife, slightly more than $13,000 dollars, and a Visa card issued in the name of Don North.
On Monday he was placed at the disposal of prosecutors, who are investigating the case. Auxiliary Prosecutor Dimas Guevara confirmed Bouhard's body was found on 4 February 2011 in the area of Las Tres Marias in Portobelo, Colon, floating on the sea, his feet bound and shot in the head. Guevara said forensic experts were in Colon last week to inspect a farm and the boats of the victims were tested. Traces of blood were found in North's sailboat. (See Note). The prosecutor believes Martin was related to his two victims through activities related to the sea. In fact,rift gold North and Bouhard made constant business trips to Colombia, where they also engaged in transporting people. (See Note). The disappearance of North was denounced by his nephew Ezra North on 10 January 2011, who said his uncle planned to go to Colombia earlier this year and had hired Martin. (See Note) That was the last time he was seen. His boat, the Wind Dancer, was found in El Porvenir renamed Green Twyla. The French boat, Levante, was also located near San Blas.
